Bill Axelrod, K3WA, moved to Woodford County, Illinois to enjoy his retirement, the fine weather we enjoy here, and, of course, the wonderful propagation we experience here in the Black Hole.
Brenda, surprised me shortly after our arrival by hiring a contractor to build me a 19' by 19' dedicated ham shack in the basement.
My family is very supportive of my hobby including my passion for disappearing for weekends at a time for contests.
Brenda and I decided that it was time to downsize - smaller house, less land, much less maintenance and of course - RATS! - fewer antennas. We bought a home in Pittsboro, NC, sold our home in East Peoria, and moved to North Carolina on 28 December 2018. We are all moved in and getting organized.
I am on the air and active on the bands and in contests Remote Ham Radio. I am in the process of putting my station together and expect to be on the air with a home station in April or May.

So, what's a ham to do after spending 10 years building a competitive contest station? Why, you tear it all down and relocate.
